Certificate of Governorship of the National Vision Research Institute of Australia for Jean S Colledge

Historical Significance: The National Vision Research Institute of Australia was founded in 1972 after a successful fund raising from optometrists, the optical industry and other sources in 1968 to 1972. Its constitution established a membership open to all who wished to join. Continuing financial support came from Governors who undertook to contribute $500 a year to the NVRI, donations that were preserved in the Governors Endowment Fund. Governors were issued with a certificate of Governorship. Miss Colledge was made a governor to recognise her work and financial contribution to the NVRI in its first appeal for funds that enabled its establishment and her subsequent work as its Secretary from 1973. Miss Colledge served in the role of NVRI Secretary for 21 years until her retirement in 1994.
