Historical Significance: The authors are Australian optometrists. Adrian Bruce is Chief Optometrist at the Australian College of Optometry and Noel Brennan was senior lecturer in the University of Melbourne Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences before establishing his own business as a contact lens research consultant. Both obtained their PhD degrees at the University of Melbourne for research in contact lenses and the cornea and have published extensively in the research literature.
