Compact silver-coloured metal lorgnette
Category: Spectacles and lenses
Sub-Category: Lorgnette
Year Of Publication/Manufacture: mid 20th Century
Time Period: 1940 to 1999
Description Of Item: This clever design enables the lorgnette to be folded down to a total width of just 6.5cm. The handle is hinged so that when closed it will secure the lorgnette safely in the wearer's pocket. When required a spring device flips the paired lenses apart. This item has never been used and is still unglazed. It would have needed flat lenses to take advantage of the very compact construction.
