He came to the NVRI from the University of Sydney, where he had been since 1991 and during which time he was promoted to Associate Professor. He had previously worked at the Max Plank Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Gottingen, Germany, and the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research at Frankfurt.
