Two copies: (1) copy 1 unbound, (2) copy 2 bound in a stiff black cover gilt impressed with the initials B.N. and with the pages of the Act interleaved with lined pages for making notes. Some of these pages have pencilled notes on them. Tipped into this copy is a clipping of the Regulations of the Opticians Registration Board dated 25 August 1935 Historical Significance: These are copies of the original Act of the Victorian parliament of 1935 that provided for registration of optometrists in Victoria for the first time. Copy (2) belonged to Bertram Nathan, the first Chairman of the Registration Board of Victoria. Victoria was not the first state to obtain registration of optometrists: this had been achieved in Tasmania in 1913 (See Waterworth in 'People who made history' this web site), in Queensland in 1913, South Australia 1920 and NSW 1930.
