Historical Significance: Sir Arthur Amies (1902 - 1976) was the second President of the Victorian College of Optometry from 1945 to 1969. He was Professor and Dean of Dentistry in the University of Melbourne and assisted the College establish its optometry course in the 1940s and the transfer of that course in 1961 to the University of Melbourne.
