Shortly afterwards the new building was completed with the Amies Theatre in a new location. The old theatre became the Nathan Library. The occasion was probably the AGM of the Victorian College of Optometry at which it was a psst custom under the Presidency of Professor Sir Arthur Amies for Councillors to wear black tie and academic robes.
