One target presents a duochrome test with letters and double Verhoff rings, a pair of polarised letter charts for near binocular balance, a number visual acuity chart and horizontal and vertical tangent scales with light source for a Maddocx rod for measuring near heterophoria. This side of the test unit has a retracting measuring tape for fixing observation distance and the target is marked 'Rodenstock Made in Western Germany'.The second target presents various near tests - typewriter font, printed font, rail timetable and a line of music notation.
