Historical Significance: Timothy Fricke graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1993 and completed a Masters degree in 1996. He was appointed Head of Paediatric Services in the ACO Clinic in 1998 after several years as a clinical researcher and sessional optometrist. He has long been committed to addressing the visual needs of disadvantaged societies: he was a volunteer in the optometry school in Tanzania in 2001/2002 and worked as an educator to build eye care capacity in Burundian Displaced Persons camps. He was an evaluator for the development of eye care in Timor Leste in 2004. For the past 4 years he has worked with the International Centre for Eyecare Education as a research officer and research manager Asia-Pacific. Tim holds graduate qualifications in International Development and in Ocular Therapeutics. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. He rejoined the staff of the Melbourne Optometry Clinic in 2011 as Director Clinical Services
