Historical Significance: Robert Foster Moore OBE MA BCh(Cantab) FRCS JP (1878 - 1963) was ophthalmic surgeon at St Bartholomew's Hospital and surgeon Moorfields Eye Hospital. He was a prominent ophthalmologist in London noted particularly only for this book (first published in 1922) and his recalled knowledge of human and comparative anatomy. The latter interest included some work he did on the head of the Australian aboriginal. See his obit Br J Ophthalmol 1963; 47:319-320.
