Historical Significance: This file contains a list of the 22 people who were made honorary life members of the Victorian College of Optometry from the first in 1954 (Cyril W Kett, pictured) to the one awarded in 2007 (John L Pettit). The file contains the citations for most of the awards, some correspondence relating to them and in the case of George Giles, papers relating to his visit to the College in general. Tipped in are unused copies of the certificate as it was from 1964 to 1994 and proofs of a new version created in 2007. An unsigned and unsealed copy of the certificate awarded to John Pettit is filed with other papers relating to him. The certificate of honorary life membership of the Victorian College of Optometry awarded to Bertram Nathan in 1960 is held at Cat No 1647.
