Description Of Item: Two wooden printing blocks both 30 x 30 x 20 mm deep with metal relief of two slighly different versions of the crest of the Victorian Optical Association on one face. The Association's motto is included at the base of the design 'Ars nostra lucem oculis dat', (Our art gives light to eyes').
Historical Significance: These blocks would have been used to print the letterhead and other stationery of the Victorian Optical Association. They possibly date from around 1940.
