Description Of Item: Seven newspaper clippings of advertisements of Coles and Garrard Pty Ltd etc. advising the days and times of visits of an optician to Victorian country towns. The name of the newspaper and the date are annotated on each in ink handwriting. The dates are 1941, 1945, 1955, 1956 and 1967. The towns visited for these particular advertisements are Warracknabeal and Murtoa.
Historical Significance: Coles and Garrard Pty Ltd was a large optometric firm based in Bourke Street, Melbourne in the 20th C. Its optometrists visited Victorian country towns on a regular circuit.
