Description Of Item: Digital colour image of former officers of the Victorian College of Optometry and the Optometrists Association. Those pictured are from left: Front. William Cooper, Bruce Besley, Sarah Hoskin (CEO Australian College of Optometry and guest speaker). Back: Ross Harris, John Nathan, Clif Egarr, Dawn Odgers, Barry Collin, Barry Cole, David Cockburn, Leon Garner, John Pettit and Ron Wrigley.
Historical Significance: This group of retired Victorian optometrists most of whom played active roles in the OAA, the Victorian College of Optometry or in academic optometry in the period 1950 to 2000. They met for lunch once a year from 2005. The photograph was taken in May 2011. The luncheon group has become known as the gerioptics. They usually invited a speaker from the Australian College of Optometry. On this occasion the speaker was the recently appointed CEO of the ACO, Professor Sarah Hoskin.
