Description Of Item: Lens drill for drilling mounting holes in rimless glasses, solid metal contruction, black enamel finish (badly worn), 250 mm high, round metal base 115 mm diameter, pulleys for a rubber belt to bring motive power to the drill from a remote electric motor, elaborate drill chuck, lever to bring drill to bear on the lens. Metal plate affixed to top of main post reading 'STOCO 1250 UNIVERSAL DRILL PAT. MAR. 25.02 PAT PENDG. STANDARD OPTICAL COMPANY GENEVA N.Y.'
Historical Significance: A Stoco Universal drill is illustrated on page 78 of the Stoco Catalogue, which dates from about 1920, (Cat No 137) with directions for use on the following pages 79 to 80. This drill is similar to this item but differs in some details and may be a later model. This item may be earlier than 1920.
Condition: Fairr. Enamel worn and metal is rusted
