Description Of Item: Oxford style pince-nez with large round eye rims, machine-engraved fixed pads, tempered metal spring bridge stamped underneath 'AOC VARSITY'. Handle on right outer rim for attaching a cord if desired and with slot to catch the left lens when folded. Glazed with significant plus cylinder lenses. 110 x 48 mm.
Historical Significance: This was a fashionable style, especially in the USA 1915-1925. See Davidson and McGregor 2nd edition p 28 (Cat No 1955) and also Corson 1st Edition p 246.
