Gardiner (b1926) and Cockburn (pictured) were fellow students in the College in the early 1950s after they had returned from war service in the RAN during World War 2. The notes tell a story of student activism on the matter of recognising overseas optometry qualifications and how they came in to dispute with the College Council because the students used the College address in their circular to optometrists.
