Description Of Item: 20 digital colour photographs of the recipients of awards at the Awards Dinner of the Australian College of Optometry in November 2011, including the award of honorary life membership of the College to former President Graham O Hill OAM, and Service Awards to long serving honorary archivists of the College, Pamela Sutton and Michael Aitken. The photographs include ACO CEO, Sarah Hoskin, ACO, President Andrew Harris, and Professor Emeritus Barry Cole.
Historical Significance: Graham Hill OAM graduated in optometry in 1964 from the University of Melbourne and practised optometry in Shepparton. He was President of the College from 1991 to 2003 and served on the College Council for a long period, before and after his Presidency, until 2010. He was active in the profession being a member and the Chairrman of the Optometrists of the Registration Board, a Councillor of the Vic Div of the OAA and a part time teaching clinician. He was awarded the Medal in the Order of Australia for his services to optometry and his local community. See biography Cole BL. Graham O Hill Clin Exp Optom 2003; 86: 409-412. Michael Aitken and Pamela Sutton have served as honorary archvists of the ACO's Kett Museum for over 40 and 20 years respectively and both have been generous donors of items to the Museum.
