Description Of Item: Small wooden trial case with hinged lid, two brass hinges & single brass clasp. Lid lined with red satin. Leatherette cover to base. Contains 36 rimless cylindrical lenses, concave & convex, powers 0.25 to 7 Dioptres. Dimensions: L:25.8cm x D:10.6cm x H:5.5cm.
Historical Significance: Early trial cases had only spherical lenses. This set was to supplement such a case as cylindrical prescriptions became more widespread.
