Description Of Item: Black and white digital image of Graham Reid, Architect to the Victorian College of Optometry 1985 to 2007.
Historical Significance: Graham Reid matriculated with honours from Scotch College, Melbourne and from The University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Architecture including a Nell Norris Scholarship. In 1973 he joined his father, Keith Reid and brother, John Reid in their practicewhich in 1978 became Reid Partnership Pty. Ltd. with all three as the Directors. In 1985 the practice was commissioned by the Victorian College of Optometry headed by Professor Barry L Cole to undertake a Master Plan of the College's Carlton site. Graham was Project Director for this project and continued in this role till his retirement in 2007. The master plan was a clever solution to integrating existing buildings with a new one and held its validity over the long period of building to it (from 1998 to 2004). It has produced a building that has been both highly functional and of considerable architectural merit. Ltd. refer Architecture Australia, Volume 75, No. 7, November 1986, page 48.
