Description Of Item: Slightly upswept (cat-eye) shaped women's spectacle frame in clear plastic with anodised aluminium on brow pieces and on frame sides. Red with decorative pearl and grey engraving, keyhole bridge, unglazed. MARTIN WELLS stamped on R temple is the only marking. Overall size is 125 x 40 mm, frame size 42 x 18.
Historical Significance: Established in 1954, Martin Wells was an Australian spectacle frame manufacturere founded by businessman Sidney Sinclair, optometrist Eric Hurst and Dino Zingarelli, a spectacle frame designer. Martin Wells produced a range of spectacles frames in the 1950s that were highly popular, ushering a new fashion era into spectacles in Australia.

Condition: Fair. Aluminium trim in good condition, plastic slightly discoloured with some minor cracks. Hinges and screws have rusted.
