It has 26 Chapters covering the history and origins of optometry, its legal status, and legal constraints and risks, ethics, optometric manpower and earnings, public health and many other topics. It was written by Henry (Hank) Hofstetter OD PhD (1914-2002), who at the time was an Assistant Professor at Ohio State University and was later, from 1952, the founding Dean of the School of Optometry at Indiana University.
