Historical Significance: This photograph was taken by a commercial photographer commissioned to record aspects of the interior of the then new building for the Victorian College of Optometry at 374 Cardigan Street, Carlton, The picture is of the then tutorial room in the south-west corner of the first floor of that building (later absorbed ino the Library). It depicts Barry Cole, then aged 26, the sole full-time lecturer in the College, in white coat with students of the day, clockwise from left Ta Ta Chi, a Colombo Plan student from Malaysia, Gavin Bridgman from New Zealand, the first student to be awarded the BAppSc(Optometry) degree in 1961, Ken Hamer (who did not complete), Michael Fish and Kevin Ryan.
