Description Of Item: Plastic box 110 mm x 57 mm x 30 mm with translucent base and yellow lid containing 26 35 mm coloured slides. A folded note visible through the base of the box has 'Children's Vision, Talk to Teachers-Slides hand-written in ball point pen. Slides illustrate refractive errors and their correction and possible signs of problems with vision. Slides are numbered T1 to T4 and 1 to 22. Slides T1 to T4 illustrate myopia and hyperopia and their correction. Slides 1 to 22 show possible signs of visual stress, appearance of scenes for students suffering visual problems, the visual pathways and binocular vision.
Historical Significance: These sets of slides were supplied on request to optometrists to assist in public education about optometry and its services. A suggested script was also available to guide the speaker.
