Description Of Item: Near vision test card, light buff, to be used with a phoropter stick. Fusion targets for testing suppression and stereopsis on one side and a LogMAR near point letter chart and cross cylinder test target on the reverse side.The combined stereo target is 374 (37 for the right eye, 74 for the left eye). The LogMAR card can be used at 25 or 40 cm to measure near VA.124 x 117 mm.
Historical Significance: 374 Cardigan St is the address of the Victorian College of Optometry (now ACO) where the card was designed. Alan Johnston PhD designed the 374 phoropter card when he was Clinic Administrator at the VCO. See Cat. # 1366 for description of his Clinical Procedures Manual. Ian Bailey and Jan Lovie Kitchen designed the LogMAR visual acuity chart, which has become the standard VA chart throughout the world. They used the same LogMAR scale to design a near point reading card.
