Description Of Item: Unglazed two-toned black and clear shell men's Atlas spectacle frame, key hole bridge, hockey temples. Right temple marked 145 Martin Wells Atlas,left temple marked FRAME AUSTRALIA 145 (temple length), Back of rim marked 46/24 (frame size). Overall size 130 x 38 mm.
Historical Significance: Established in 1954, Martin Wells was an Australian spectacle frame manufacturer founded by businessman Sidney Sinclair, optometrist Eric Hurst and Dino Zingarelli, a spectacle frame designer. Martin Wells produced a range of spectacles frames in the 1950s that were highly popular, ushering a new fashion era into spectacles in Australia.
