Description Of Item: Two pairs of 8 pd (prism dioptre) handmade yoked prisms, both pair with base up on one side and base down on the other side, glued to clear plastic square handle.
Historical Significance: With prism bases in the same direction, light rays are deviated, shifting the visual input in each eye in the direction of the prism apex. Flipping from one side to the other shifts the view up or down, altering spatial perception and requiring the brain to recalibrate visual space. Yoked prisms are used in neuro-optometric rehabilitation and to develop accurate spatial awareness in children who have poorly developed visual spatial skills.
