Description Of Item: Internally illuminated unit 155 mm x 215 mm x 50 mm. Plastic outer case with gold brushed aluminium front with Essilor logo at the bottom left, bordered by two vertical rubber channel pieces. Face has six different near tests which can be indivivually selected using a lever at the top of the case. Tests are letter chart for visual acuity (high and low contrast), duochrome, single letter acuity, phorias, tropia and suppression. Switch on rear of case as well as extendable coiled cable and three pin plug.
Historical Significance: One of a number of internally illuminated near test units devised by ophthalmic instrument manufacturers.
