Historical Significance: Iridodiagnosis is a cult alternative medical practice by which diseases of many kinds are said to be diagnosed by signs on the iris. It dates from the 17thC with the work Chiromatica Medica by Philippus Meyeus (1665) and the idea was developed by Ignatz von Peczely, a Hungarian physician in the 19thC. It became better known through the teachings of American chiropractor Bernard Jensen in the 1950s. Belief in the method persists despite a lack of evidence or physiological principles underpinning it. Dr Henry Lindlahr MD has published about 10 books on natural cures including this one on iridodiagnosis.
