Thin metal rod protrudes from handle. Vertical and horizontal prism dioptre tangent scales printed in white (horizontal) and red (vertical) on metal back plate along with white sketched diagram of a hand with finger pointing upwards. Back plate attached to handle by curved supports which join to form a septum. Horizontal rotatable red coiled wire attached to side and an sliding vertical silver metal arrow attached to top of plate pointing downwards. Red arrow can also be rotated to measure cyclophorias. Vertical metal attached arrow can be used to demonstrate the degree of heterophoria to patient. Eyepieces have slit apertures with double drop lens cells 'MADDOX WING TEST and THEODORE HAMBLIN Ltd printed across bottom. 715/13 stamped on curved mount base of instrument. Instrument size is 300 mm x 155 mm x 125 mm Historical Significance: The coiled red wire arrow was used on the Model 711 Maddox Wing but was later replaced by a metal on the 715, and the diagrammatic illustration of the hand with finger pointing upwards was filled in rather than sketched.
