Historical Significance: Malcolm Jagamarra Maloney was born in 1954, the son of a Walpirri woman and an Irish bushman. He was discovered by the authorities in 1960 and taken from his mother as part of the 'Aboriginal Assimilation Program' to Adelaide. He spent 18 years with foster families, graduated from Adelaide boys High School in 1972 and played football with North Adelaide in the SANFL. He returned Alice Springs in 1978 to be reunited with his family. He underwent initiation to manhood ceremonies, usually performed at a much younger age, in 1983. His art derives from his tribe's ceremonies, songs and stories. He took the opportunity to use acrylics to preserve and share artwork which was formerly not permanent. He is considered as one of the most talented and dynamic Aboriginal artists. Holding a number of art residences in Australia and overseas. His artworks have had extensive coverage in the media and some have been created for corporations.
