Description Of Item: Wooden block holding a set of 13 hand-made aperture trial frame inserts and one occluder. The 13 aluminium inserts comprise 2 x rimless 8.5mm aperture, 1 x 8.0mm with brass rim, 2 x rimless 7.2mm, 1 x 6.2mm, 1 x 6.0mm, 1 x 4.2mm, 1 x 4.0mm with brass rim, 1 x 3.0mm, 1 x 2.0mm with brass rim, & 2 x 1.0mm. Each aperture holder 38mm diameter. Wooden block: 136 x 90 x 40mm.
Historical Significance: This set of various aperture sizes was used by Prof Algis Vingrys of the Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences, University of Melbourne, who specialises in clinical optometry and researching early vision loss with eye and brain disorders.
