Description Of Item: Latex model of a head mounted on a fibreglass support on a board. The head is shown in a reclined position with eyes closed. The eyelids can be opened and samples of various eye conditions, or pupil sizes, can be inserted. This model may have been intended for training purposes for examination of an unconscious patient. Sticker label on board: 'Richard Rush Studio, Inc./ 168 N. CLINTON STREET CHICAGO ILLINOIS 60806'. Overall dimensions: 300 x 210 x 170.
Historical Significance: Richard Rush (1916 - 2001) designed and made thousands of models including three dimensional maps of Normandy for the D-Day landings, coral reefs, animals and humans. From the 1980s, he focussed on models for health and medical education.
