Description Of Item: Near vision test card printed on white stiff card and framed in a brown stained timber frame 230 mm x 130 mm with a wooden handle 125 mm long. The reading chart is headed 'TYPE FOR TESTING THE SIGHT/SOFT-LITE LENSES' and have type in 5 different sizes (without notation) and a line of music.
Historical Significance: This ophthalmic reading test chart promotes Soft-Lite lenses. Soft-lite tinted ophthalmic lenses were marketed strongly in the 1930s and 1940s by the Soft-lite Lens Company Inc in New York USA. The lenses were made by Bausch and Lomb and sold under licence.
