Description Of Item: Holmes-Wright colour lantern Type 'A'. Main case: 285mm D x 280mm H x 220mm W. This unit shows colours in pairs. It displays red, green & white lights only, including 2 different reds and 2 different greens.. The lantern displays 9 pairs of colours and is viewed at 6 metres. The subject being tested must name the colours shown. According to Birch, see below, in 1998 this was the standard lantern used in British armed services, the merchant navy and the civil aviation authority.
