Black metal ophthalmoscope head with prism reflector & revolving lens disc. Stamped 'PAT 358766 on rear. Front marked: 'MAY OPHTHALMOSCOPE Improved/ M WISEMAN & Co Ltd'. Black leatherette-covered fitted wooden case with purple velvet lining & metal snap catch. Case:W:180 mm x D:120 mm x H:55 mm. Inside rim of case stamped with gilt lettering 'MADE IN ENGLAND'. Historical Significance: May designed this improved ophthalmoscope in 1915. The improvement was to the illuminating optics. See May C H The May Electric ophthalmoscope.
