It includes sections on the history of legal matters in optometry, ethics in health care generally and optometry, optometrists' duties to patients with specific conditions, liability under a range of different circumstances and for different optometric treatments. There are also chapters in court processes, insurance and contracts. The author is an optometrist (OD) and legally qualified (JD) who was an academic in the school of optometry, University of Alabama, Birmingham. He was also a member of the bar in the State of Alabama.
