Description Of Item: Trial frame mounted on a black enamel cast iron pantograph arm for wall mounting. The enamel is decorated with gold lines. The pantograph arm is not spring loaded but has a hinged bar that engages teeth on the lower arm to enable the height to be adjusted. The trial frame has a screw adjustment for inter puppilary distance, slots for spherical lenses and a rotating cells with degree scale for cylindrical lenses. There is a second fixing mount most likely for a near point test card on a rod. No manufacturers identification.
Historical Significance: This item is described and pictured on page 71 of the Geneva Optical Company catalogue (Cat No 1173), which is undated but was most likely published between 1900 and 1930. It is presumed that this item, which bears no manufacturers mark, is the same item as the one depicted.
