Description Of Item: Black vinyl zipped case 184 mm x 88 mm x 40 mm containing a Heine Miroflex direct ophthalmoscope with chromed re-chargeable handle, 13 D condensing lens and spare globe. Base of ophthalmoscope has grey metal label bearing the words 'ACCUSAN' the Heine logo and 'MADE IN GERMANY' and screws off revealing two round pins 19 mm long of 5 mm diameter. Black plastic head, white knurled plastic Rekoss disc of lenses, 5 position aperture selector and sliding C-F selector. Heine company logo printed in white with the word 'Miroflex' on the face and C-00. 13. 102 on the side. Dimensions of assembled ophthalmoscope: 215 x 45 mm.
Historical Significance: Helmut A Heine founded the Heine company in 1946 in Herrsching, Germany. The first instruments made by the company were a hand-held otoscope and a direct ophthalmoscope.
