Description Of Item: Yellow-green open topped plastic box 273 mm x 165 mm x 58 mm with two slots for identification labels on one long side and three compartments inside, two 77 mm x 77 mm and one 186 mm x 155 mm.
Historical Significance: A jobbing box used in the making and dispensing of spectacles in the ACO dispensing laboratory. The small compartments are designed to hold the patient's lenses, the large compartment to hold prescription details and frame. Variations of boxes like this were used in optometric practices for dispensing purposes.
