Historical Significance: This device was developed by Larry Pompe to provide a relatively simple method of determining the power of soft contact lenses in an optometric practice using a vertometer. The hydrated lens is draped over the lens holder and clamped lightly by the membrane slide and the device placed on the able of the vertometer.
