Historical Significance: DMV Corporation was founded by the late Dr. Dennis England who was a pioneer in the contact lens field as the first to apply for a corneal lens patent in 1946. Even though his patent was denied, his entrepreneurial spirit persisted and he began making contact lens removers in 1968.Later the company expanded its base to include soft lens removers as well as tools for handling lenses in the laboratory. DMV Corporation is a family owned and operated business. The DMV 45 differs from conventional rigid lens removers in having its surfaces at 45? allowing the user to watch progress in a mirror. Suction for removal is obtained from deformation of the tip rather than squeezing the shaft as in other removers. The foot of the leaflet is imprinted IS-45-88-TP possibly suggesting 1988 as the initial year of printing.
