The paper copies are of Fig 94 (from the uncredited text book) of Jaeger Test-Types with approximate Snellen equivalents. The subject matter is from Daniel Defoe's 'Robinson Crusoe' 1815. The first of the 2 loose cards is quoting from Cardinal John Henry Newman (21/02/1801-11/08/1890), Discourses on the Scope & Nature of University Education, 1852, including 'Hence it is that it is almost a definition of a gentleman...'.
