Historical Significance: Solutions and a case were included with the bag for presentation to the new contact lens wearer as a starting point for lens care. Alcon was founded in 1945 at Fort Worth, Texas by pharmacists Robert ALexander and William CONner to specialise in sterile ophthalmic products. Novartis, formed by merger of Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz in 1991, took over Alcon as a subsidiary in 2019 and Alcon eye care devices was spun off shortly after.
