Historical Significance: Cases of this type were included in AOSept Starter Kits. The vent hole allowed oxygen produced in the neutralisation of hydrogen peroxide to escape through a flap valve in the cap. AOSept was originally developed by American Optical and purchased by Ciba before being included in the Alcon spin off.
