Historical Significance: A number of these cases were supplied in packs of Opti-Free solution to allow for replacement monthly.Alcon Opti-Free Multipurpose Solution was sold in packs of 2 x 300 ml, 1 x 90 ml and three disposable lens cases as a three month supply of lens care.Alcon was founded in 1945 at Fort Worth, Texas by pharmacists Robert ALexander and William CONner to specialise in sterile ophthalmic products. Novartis, formed by merger of Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz in 1991, took over Alcon as a subsidiary in 2019 and Alcon eye care devices was spun off shortly after.
