Description Of Item: Cased Neitz streak retinoscope with battery handle and mains supply power options with one spare globe. Chromed metal, grey enamel and black plastic finish. Head printed 'NEITZ/ STREAK/ RETINOSCOPE-R1/ No 36216/ NEITZ CO, TOKYO JAPAN'. Fitted case lined with grey velvet and white satin and covered in grey leatherette. Case 270mm W x 140mm D x 44mm H.
Historical Significance: Neitz Instruments Co Ltd started business in 1965 when it took over Naito Ophthalmic Optical Instrument Research Institute as a manufacturer of ophthalmic equipment. It was acquired by Menicon Co Ltd in 1997 and Nishizawa Electric Measuring Instruments Co., Ltd from Menicon Co Ltd in 2010.
