Description Of Item: Black metal base with chrome metal press arm, catch and seal plates, standing 120 mm high, contained in a box 92 x 143 x 60 mm, marked 'Ideal model M1 Steel desk seal 1 5/8' insert'. Seal has the letters 'NVRI' in the centre and the words 'National Vision Research Institute' around the perimeter of the seal.
Historical Significance: This seal machine would have been bought in 1972 when the National Vision Research Institute of Australia was established as an autonomous subsidiary of the Victorian College of optometry.
