Historical Significance: Henry (Hank) Hofstetter (1914-2002) was a highly regarded optometry academic, the first to qualify for a PhD degree in Physiological Optics at Ohio University in 1942 and one of the first optometrists to attain a PhD degree. He was Dean of the school of optometry at Indiana University from 1952 until his retirement in 1980.
