Historical Significance: Henry (Hank) Hofstetter (1914-2002) was a highly regarded optometry academic, the first to qualify for a PhD degree in Physiological Optics at Ohio University in 1942 and one of the first optometrists to attain a PhD degree. He was Dean of the school of optometry at Indiana University from 1952 until his retirement in 1980. The first edition of this book was published in 1960 (Au: M Schapero; D Cline; H W Hofstetter) and the last and fifth edition in 2000.
