Historical Significance: Michel Millodot PhD (Brown U), OD (Waterloo) MSc (Indiana), FBOA (Born Michel Miodovski 1938-) trained as an optician in Paris, gaining the state diploma in 1960. He later qualified for the degree of Doctor of Optometry at Waterloo University, Canada, and obtained a MSc from Indiana University and a PhD degree from Brown University. He taught optometry at the University of Montreal, Canada, before being appointed Professor and Chair of the optometry University of Wales, Cardiff. He was subsequently appointed Head of the optometry department of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1990. On his retirement in 1996 he was an academic adviser to the new Department of Optometry at Hadassah College of Technology in Jerusalem. In 2004, Michel left Jerusalem to return to Wales where he was appointed Honorary Professor in the Department of Optometry of Cardiff University.
